Flag Retirement Set June 16 2012 Tyler TX

From www.tylerpaper.com accessed June 3, 2012:

Flag Retirement Set June 16

The Captain William Barron Chapter, Sons of the American Revolution, is scheduled to host a flag retirement ceremony at 9 a.m. June 16, at Tyler Memorial Park Cemetery, 12053 Texas Highway 64 West.

The ceremony is open to the public, the chapter announced.

The United States code states that when the U.S. flag becomes worn, torn, faded or soiled, it is time to replace it with a new flag, and the old flag should be "retired" with all the dignity and respect befitting our nation's flag.

Members of the Tyler fire and police departments, veteran and military organizations, Boy Scout groups and Civil Air Patrol members are expected to participate in the ceremony. Col. David Pearson will be the guest speaker, the announcement indicated.
