Rusk County, Texas

I am working with John R. Dulin on several projects concerning Rusk County, Texas. John does the research and original typing then sends it to me to format, edit and index. When it is complete it will be sold by East Texas Genealogical Society. The following is a list of the projects and their status as of today:

  1. Abstracts From The Probate Files and Records Found in Rusk County, Texas 1843-1878 is completed and available for sale. Link to information and order form. The index is available on-line at the following links: A - K and L - Z. I am thinking about publishing a copy of this book on cd/dvd in Adobe pdf format.
  2. Rusk County, Texas Death Ledger 1903-1917 is in the final stages of corrections/proofreading. It should be available for sale later this year. ETGS received a matching grant from the Texas State Genealogical Society to publish this book. This is first of three books covering death ledgers/registers that John Dulin has done.
  3. Rusk County, Texas Death Register 1917-1928 will be the next book that I work on. If all goes well it will be available for sale from ETGS in 2009. It is the second of three books that John Dulin has done covering the death ledgers/registers of Rusk County, Texas.
  4. Rusk County, Texas Death Record Book Three 1928 - 1932 is the final book that John Dulin has done on the Rusk County Death records. Hopefully it will be completed in late 2009/early 2010.
  5. Abstracts of Rusk County, Texas District Court Civil Suits, 1843-1878 is in the final stages of proofreading and indexing by June Everheart. I am hopeful that it will be available to sell later this year or early next year.
  6. Rusk County, Texas Commissioner's Court Minute Book One 1843 - 1870 - ready to start formating, proofreading and indexing but not sure when this will happen.
  7. Rusk County Doctors goes up to 2005. I will start publishing this in ETGS' quarterly magazine starting with the Summer 2008 issue.

Rose Hill Cemetery, Smith County, Texas

I am currently photographing the tombstones at Rose Hill Cemetery, Tyler, Smith County, Texas. Rose Hill is divided into many sections including a mausoleum. I am using the sections as shown by the following maps:

http://www.rootsweb.com/~usgenweb/tx/smith/cemeteries/tyler/roshilmap.html

Section A

  • photos taken but not posted

  • transcription done but not posted

I have a problem in that Sections A & M are side by side which I did not realize until after the fact. Need to identify which tombstone photos are in Section M.

Section B

Section E

  • photos taken but not uploaded yet
  • working on transcription

Section G

  • photos taken but not uploaded yet
  • working on transcription

Section K

  • photographed about 1/2 of the tombstones and should be finished in the next couple of weeks
  • will start transcription when finished taking the photos

Section O

Mausoleum

I will do the photos on Sections H, I, J, L, N, & P next since these sections have not been surveyed before. After that I will go to Sections C, D & F last since these sections were surveyed back in the 1980s.

This is the space that I am going to try to keep up with the projects that I am working on for my personal genealogy, my work for the East Texas Genealogical Society, the Texas State Genealogical Society and miscellaneous other societies.
