ETGS April 10, 2010 Regular Meeting

ETGS to Present Family Tree Maker 2010 Lecture

The East Texas Genealogical Society will hold its regular monthly meeting on Saturday, April 10, 2010, at 2:00 p.m. in the Taylor Auditorium at the Tyler Public Library, 201 S. College, Tyler, TX. During a special two-hour program Tresa Tatyrek will introduce East Texas Genealogists to the new version of Family Tree Maker 2010. This version allows genealogists to keep 90 percent of their genealogical research in FTM including digital images, catalogs of those images, word documents of stories for formatting purposes, and research notes.

Family Tree Maker, the most popular software used by genealogists, is owned by Ancestry.com, and Ms. Tatyrek is one of their Beta Testers. She has been working on this new version for several months and will share her knowledge both with her two-hour lecture and a special detailed instructional handout in PDF format that will be available at the meeting for $5.
Ms. Tatyrek has been interested in family history and genealogy since childhood, and began doing extensive research in 1997 using Family Tree Maker as her genealogy program. The research has evolved into tracing over forty family lines for her family and her husband’s. She served as president of the Dallas Genealogical Society for three years and was their webmaster for six years. DGS honored Ms. Tatyrek with their Volunteer of the year award in 2005 and bestowed their Award of Merit on her in 2007. (www.magnoliamanorgenealogy.com.)
